Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant features, including the film club’s high starting figure, the absence of musical performances at the beginning, table tennis’s rise to 54, and amateur dramatics’ fall to a low of about 5–6. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it gives little accurate coverage of the overall patterns, and some details are misreported. Musical performances begin in 2010, not 2005, and they rise steadily thereafter rather than declining in 2015 and 2020. Martial arts fluctuates but ends at roughly its starting level, not with a sudden decrease. The overview also incorrectly says the highest figure occurred in 2000; film club reaches about 66 in 2020. Select the main trends and compare them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an opening statement to a body paragraph and a final overview. Some sequencing is attempted through phrases such as “On the other hand” and “Overall.” However, the body combines several activities and years in long, difficult-to-follow sentences, while the order of information is not consistently clear. For example, the account of musical performances moves from 2005 to 2010 and then claims a decline, making the trend hard to follow. The final overview repeats a point from the body but does not clearly summarise the main contrasting trends. Organise the report by grouping the stable or fluctuating series separately from the sharply rising and falling ones, and use clear year-by-year comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuations,” “dramatic increase,” and “sharp decline,” showing an attempt to describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. “Musical year starts” is not a natural way to describe the series, and “equal differences in number of participants involved” does not clearly express the figures. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “comaring,” “flactuations,” and “participlants.” Use precise trend language such as “remained stable,” “rose steadily,” and “fell sharply,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “while,” “then,” and “when,” but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in agreement and sentence construction occur in phrases such as “Table tennis, Amateur dramatics and Martial arts was seen” and “when it reaches upto 5 number,” while the opening sentence also contains an article error in “the numbers.” Tense and clause control are inconsistent, making some descriptions difficult to interpret. Aim for shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when reporting the historical data. Check agreement when listing multiple activities and use articles and plural forms accurately.
