Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main leading activity, noting that film club participation was higher than for the other activities, and you report several relevant trends, including its dip and recovery and table tennis’s later rise. However, the account is incomplete and some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate. For example, table tennis rose sharply from about 20 in 2010 to 54 in 2020, but this key change is only vaguely described as increasing “instantly from 2015 to 2020.” The steep decline in amateur dramatics, from about 26 to 6, is not reported. Musical performances began in 2010 and rose to about 18, while martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s; these details need clearer, accurate coverage. Add a concise overview of the contrasting trends and select the most important figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence, moving from film club to other activities, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “secondly” show an attempt to organise the information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the response shifts between years and activities without a consistent structure. The paragraph beginning “secondly” combines several starting figures, while the later discussion jumps from musical performances to martial arts and then table tennis without clearly connecting the comparisons. Some linking words, including “butt” and “however,” are used inaccurately or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. Group the activities by trend—for example, consistently high, sharply rising, and declining—and use clear time references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a graph, including “increased,” “participants,” “stuck,” and “arrived,” so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural for data reporting. “Arrived” does not clearly describe the start of musical performances, and “increased instantly” is not an appropriate way to describe a rise over several years. Repetition of “number of participants” also makes the account less flexible. Spelling errors such as “dereased” and “muscial,” along with “butt,” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Build a small set of accurate trend expressions, such as “declined steadily,” “remained stable,” and “rose sharply,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify the activities and years being discussed. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences joined with commas and conjunctions. For example, “Firstly, from 2000 the number … is 65 and became less than 65 in 2005” shifts tense and has an unclear verb pattern; “in amateur dramatics are more than 20” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles and prepositions are often missing or awkward, as in “at single social center” and “in 2000 the number … is.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, with several sentence starts in lowercase and spaces before commas. Use past-tense reporting consistently and separate each comparison into a complete sentence.
