Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant features, including the film club’s leading position, the decline in amateur dramatics, and table tennis’s rise. The comparison that amateur dramatics and table tennis both had about 20 participants in 2010 is also accurate. However, the overview is partly unclear and includes a major misreading: table tennis did not have the most participants year by year; the film club remained highest throughout. The response also gives limited coverage of the other series. For example, martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s, while musical performances rose from zero to about 18, but these trends are not clearly reported. To make the summary more complete, state the main overall trends accurately and support them with key figures across the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving to details about amateur dramatics and table tennis. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “On the other hand,” and “After 2010” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview combines several trends in a confusing sentence, and the final paragraph shifts to film club and musical performances without completing the comparison. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, such as “where participation of table tennis was rapidly increased.” Organise the body by grouping the main trends—for example, rising, falling, and relatively stable activities—and use clear references and transitions to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “decreased,” “increased,” and “fluctuate,” so the reader can identify the general subject and direction of change. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. Phrases such as “most of the participants were being interested on table tennis,” “low interest,” and “reached at 20” do not describe the data naturally. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “begainning,” “flactuation,” and “participents.” Aim for precise chart language such as “the number of participants,” “stood at,” “rose to,” and “fell to,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison of the two activities in 2010 and a contrast introduced by “Though.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to follow. Examples include “at specific social centre,” “amateur dramatics were fall,” and “musical performances is,” which show problems with articles, verb forms, and agreement. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “Overall, year by year” and the unfinished final sentence. Practise forming accurate past-tense descriptions of chart data, checking subject–verb agreement, and using complete sentences. Clear, controlled sentence patterns should come before attempts at longer constructions.
