Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: the film club remains the most popular activity, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. You also report figures across all five activities, so the response addresses the task. However, some details are incomplete or imprecise. For example, martial arts is described only as fluctuating and reaching 36, without showing its relatively stable range of about 32–38. The table-tennis rise is clear, but the final figure is given as 52 rather than approximately 54. Musical performances reach about 18 in 2020, not 16. To strengthen the report, compare the series more explicitly at key points and ensure the final values and time references are accurate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. The sequence from film club and martial arts to the remaining activities is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Turning to,” and “In contrast” help signal shifts. Some connections are less smooth, however. The martial-arts sentence, “with fluctucations in its figure it went to 36 in 2020,” does not clearly explain the changes across the period, and the final sentence joins several musical-performance figures in a way that makes the timeline slightly unclear. Use parallel descriptions for each series and connect each figure directly to its year to make progression more precise and cohesion less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-appropriate vocabulary, including “remained the popular activity,” “increased significantly,” “considerable decrease,” and “decline.” These choices communicate the main trends, and some variation avoids excessive repetition of “increased.” There are also word-choice, spelling, and collocation slips that limit precision: “Marital arts” should be “martial arts,” “fluctucations” is misspelled, and “increased slightly 28” needs a more natural expression such as “rose slightly to 28.” “The figure of participants” is repeated and sounds less natural than “the number of participants.” Aim for accurate activity names and more varied, conventional language for describing rises, falls, and stable figures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “while” and “whereas,” and most of the meaning remains clear. Some grammatical and punctuation errors are present. The opening says “between 2000 to 2020”; use “between 2000 and 2020” or “from 2000 to 2020.” In “it increased slightly 28,” the construction needs “to 28.” The sentence beginning “In contrast, the figure of table tennis increased dramatically, In 2000…” has a comma splice and an incorrectly capitalised continuation; separate it into two sentences. Check articles and phrasing as well, for example “the film club” and “the number … was.” More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
