Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the five activities and note several important broad patterns, including table tennis rising and amateur dramatics declining, while recognising that film club remained the most popular. However, some descriptions are inaccurate or too vague to show the main changes clearly. Table tennis did not begin its rise in 2010: it increased from 16 in 2000 to 20 in 2005, stayed level in 2010, then climbed sharply to 54 by 2020. Musical performances began increasing in 2010, not 2005, and film club dipped slightly before recovering rather than simply becoming more popular throughout. Include a concise overview and support it with key figures and comparisons to make the report more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has some paragraphing and uses linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However,” “Building on this,” and “On the other hand,” so the reader can identify an attempt to group and connect ideas. Nevertheless, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview mixes several trends, and later paragraphs repeat general statements rather than developing a clear comparison across the period. Some connectors do not express the relationship between ideas accurately, and the final paragraph introduces another broad summary without adding useful information. Organise the report into a clear introduction, an overview of the main contrasts, and focused detail paragraphs, grouping related trends and using fewer, more precise linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt relevant trend vocabulary, including “surged,” “fluctuated,” “gradually decreased,” and “highest participants,” which shows awareness of the language needed for a graph report. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the popularities enhance,” “musical participants,” and “amateur dramatic.” Frequent spelling errors—including “increesed,” “popolarities,” and “activites”—also make the report harder to read and sometimes obscure meaning. Use standard activity labels and precise terms such as “participant numbers,” “rose,” “fell,” and “remained stable.” Check spelling and collocations carefully, and avoid using “surged” for changes that were gradual or modest.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There are attempts to form longer sentences and use contrast, for example, “While the amateur dramatic gradually decreased from 2005 and never surged again.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty, and the range remains limited. The opening lacks a complete grammatical construction (“in different activities one social centre”), while phrases such as “the table tennis and musical performance significantly surged” have problems with articles and sentence structure. Verb forms and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “the film club have highest participants.” Punctuation is frequently missing or misplaced, making sentence boundaries unclear. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, tense, and punctuation in each sentence.
