Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall patterns: the film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises markedly, and amateur dramatics declines to the lowest level. These are relevant features and the response covers all five activities. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: table tennis was already rising by 2005 and reached about 36 in 2015, rather than only starting to rise in 2010; martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s rather than remaining constant; and the film club ended at about 66, not 68. The description of amateur dramatics as declining “all of sudden” also misses its initial slight rise. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of changes across the period would make the report more complete and accurate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs of details. The overview usefully groups the main trends, and phrases such as “In contrast” and “last but not least” attempt to guide the reader. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is uneven: the second body paragraph moves between film club, martial arts and table tennis, while the final paragraph returns to the remaining activities without a consistent comparison pattern. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or awkward, including “in additionally” and “furthermore,” which do not always clarify the relationship between ideas. Organise the details by clear trend groups and use simpler, more precise transitions to make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “participants,” “declined,” “started” and “ended,” so the reader can generally identify the trends you intend to describe. However, the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a graph. Expressions such as “holds the most number,” “flinched towards high numbers,” “launched with” and “closed with” make the account less clear, while “percent” is incorrect when reporting participant counts. Repetition of “number of participants” also limits flexibility. Aim for standard trend language and accurate collocations, such as “remained the most popular,” “rose sharply” and “stood at,” while keeping descriptions concise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors are frequent across the response, and complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. Examples include “The given line graph illustrate,” where subject–verb agreement is missing, and “in 2010 it gone little bit down,” which has an incorrect verb form and incomplete phrasing. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “the data” and “in contrast,” and articles and plural forms are often omitted or misused. These problems sometimes make relationships between time points difficult to understand. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
