Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall patterns: table tennis rises strongly, amateur dramatics declines, and film club remains the leading activity. You also include relevant comparisons and several approximate figures. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. Table tennis reaches about 54 participants in 2020, not “almost 60,” and it overtakes martial arts by 2015 rather than being “surpassed to martial arts.” The claim that musical performances were the least popular throughout is not accurate by 2020, when amateur dramatics is lower. The overview also says most activities increased considerably, although martial arts fluctuated around a similar level and amateur dramatics fell. A more precise overview and clearer reporting of these comparisons would make the key features more fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. Information is generally grouped by activity, and linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “Likewise” and “whereas” help show comparisons. However, some connections are confusing: the sentence about table tennis being “surpassed to marital arts” obscures which activity overtakes the other, and “Although” is used as a sentence opener without a complete contrasting clause. “Moreover” and “Although” are also awkwardly punctuated in the overview. The final paragraph combines several series, making the progression less clear. Organise the details into clearer comparisons and use linking words only where their relationship is precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “modestly,” “accounted for” and “declined overall,” which helps describe trends. Some less common choices are not used accurately or naturally: “experienced the substantial growth” is an awkward collocation, “the least popular” does not fit the intended description of a series, and “making its leading activity” is unclear. There are also spelling errors, including “activites,” “Austrakia” and “approximatelt,” as well as inconsistent forms such as “amateur dramatics” and “amateur dramatic.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the general message, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would improve precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “whereas” and “which,” and the main trends are usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “We can be seen that” has an incorrect construction; “from 0 in 2005 to approximately 20 members” needs a clearer subject and verb; and “a second most popular category” has an article error. There are also problems with number agreement and plurals in “20 member” and “30 to 40 member,” and punctuation is inconsistent around “Moreover” and the parenthetical range. Review sentence patterns, articles and plural forms, and aim to make complex comparisons complete and grammatically controlled.
