Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response identifies several relevant series and attempts an overview, noting that the film club remained highest and that musical performances rose from zero. However, major trends are repeatedly reversed or assigned to the wrong activity, which makes the report only partially accurate. Amateur dramatics began at about 26, not 36, and declined to around 6; it did not surge to 50. Table tennis rose sharply from about 20 in 2010 to 54 in 2020, rather than falling below 10. The film club finished near 66, not 70, while martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s. To improve, check each line carefully and select the most important accurate comparisons for the overview and supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph describing the activities. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “on the other hand” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within the body is difficult to follow because several series are described in an order that conflicts with the graph, and the overview compresses multiple trends into an unclear sentence. Linking is also sometimes mechanical or imprecise, as in “then it faced a little fluctuation and become around 40 again.” Use one clear paragraph for the overview and group the detailed comparisons logically, while ensuring each transition accurately connects the relevant trend.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general topic and some changes, with terms such as “maintained a dominant position,” “fluctuation,” and “started increasing.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “face downgrades,” “huge surge” for a decline, and “remain low” for musical performances, which actually increased. Repetition of “around,” “started,” and “faced” also limits precision. Choose standard graph language that distinguishes movement clearly, such as “declined steadily,” “rose sharply,” “remained relatively stable,” and “reached approximately.” More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons easier to understand and reduce ambiguity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses some simple sentences and attempts longer structures, including “Overall, it is evident that…” and clauses joined with “while” and “then.” However, errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “This graph illustrate” should be “This graph illustrates,” and “Film club remain” should be “The film club remained.” The sentence “It lower a bit in 2010 but rise again and become consistent” contains several incorrect verb forms, while “started increasing and go upto” also shifts form incorrectly. Some sentences are understandable, but these recurring errors make relationships and timing less clear. Practise consistent past-tense reporting and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
