Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main activities and report several broad trends, including the decline in amateur dramatics and the strong rise in table tennis. However, some figures and descriptions are inaccurate: film club stays around 60–66, not 65–67, and martial arts fluctuates around 32–38 rather than 36–37. Musical performances reach about 18, not 16, by 2020. The overview also says both table tennis and musical performances increased “sharply,” although the rise in musical performances is more gradual. The response is 11 words below the required minimum, and several trends are only briefly described. Include a fuller overview and more accurate comparisons to cover the key features more completely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. The reader can follow the sequence from general trends to individual series, and time references such as “after 2005” help establish chronology. However, the body reads largely as a list of separate descriptions, with limited comparison between activities. Repeated openings such as “The number of participants…” also make the progression somewhat mechanical. Some links between ideas are unclear, particularly “increased sharply in 2020,” which could mean a sudden rise during that year rather than an overall increase across the period. Grouping the rising activities together and contrasting them with the declining or fluctuating series would create a more connected account.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuate,” “decreased significantly,” “rapidly increased,” and “participants,” so the main trends are generally understandable. Some word choices and collocations are imprecise, however. “The data of the total numbers” is awkward for introducing a graph, and “increased sharply in 2020” does not clearly express a rise over the whole period. “Ended up on 16 participants” is also an unnatural phrase. Repetition of “the number of participants” limits flexibility, while “gradually increase” is not the best form for describing a completed historical trend. Use concise reporting language and vary expressions such as “the figure,” “the total,” and “participation” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually clear. There are some errors in verb forms and agreement, as in “the number … fluctuate” and “gradually increase,” where the past-tense forms are needed. The sentence “In film club number of participants fluctuate…” also lacks an article and has an awkward sentence structure. In “The number of participants in table tennis the participants started…,” the subject is repeated and the sentence is not grammatically complete as intended. Check tense consistency when describing past data, and build each sentence around one clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make the report easier to read.
