Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main series and provide an overview of the broad patterns: film club remains highest, musical performances rise from zero, table tennis grows, and amateur dramatics declines. These are relevant features, and the response covers the chart as a whole. However, some figures and comparisons are inaccurate: martial arts begins at about 36, not 46, and ends at roughly 36 rather than simply “stayed less.” The claim that table tennis and amateur dramatics intersect at 20 in 2010 is also incorrect; their values are about 20 and 20 at that point, but the earlier pattern and the later divergence need clearer reporting. To strengthen the response, give more precise comparisons and describe the key changes without ambiguous claims such as “both the activities followed the opposite trend.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs grouping the activities. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and phrases such as “Regarding Martial arts” and “after that” help signal shifts. The overview also gives the reader a useful sense of the main trends. However, some links are unclear or mechanically phrased, particularly “The number of participants in table tennis and amateur dramatics intersected at one point after which both the activities followed the opposite trend.” The later paragraph repeats the overview’s points rather than developing comparisons consistently, and the martial-arts sentence is difficult to interpret. Use clearer references and organise the details around contrasting trends, while ensuring each sentence connects unambiguously to the figures being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of chart vocabulary, including “gradually decreased,” “steadily increased,” “downward trend,” and “attracted,” so the main information is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “participation numbers.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “most number of participants,” “least attracted activity,” “participation … inclined,” and “figures … stayed less.” Spelling slips such as “activites” and “bu” also reduce accuracy. Aim for standard, precise expressions for describing data, such as “had the highest number,” “was the least popular,” and “rose to.” This would make the vocabulary more natural and improve precision without requiring more elaborate wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which” and time phrases such as “By 2020.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “in 2010, the numbers gradually decreased to 60” is attached awkwardly to the preceding clause, while “participation i film club inclined” has an incomplete construction. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and agreement in phrases such as “the highest participants” and “both the activities.” Use complete, well-punctuated sentences and check that each subject has a suitable verb and noun phrase. Greater control of these patterns would make your complex sentences more reliable.
