Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main activities and report several broad trends, including the film club’s consistently high participation, the rise in table tennis, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, some figures and comparisons are inaccurate: amateur dramatics starts at about 26, not 35, and table tennis rises to about 54, rather than 50. Musical performances begin at zero and increase, so they are not the least-attended activity by 2020; amateur dramatics ends lower, at about 6. The overview is also unclear because it says participation increased and declined without summarising the key contrasts precisely. Select the most important trends and support them with accurate figures across the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response is divided into paragraphs and uses basic linking phrases such as “According to the graph,” “In the case of,” and “In comparison.” This gives the reader some sense of how the information is grouped. However, the progression is repetitive and not consistently logical: the final two paragraphs repeat comparisons already made, while the overall statement comes last and remains vague. Some references are also unclear, such as “the number of participants as illustrated in the graph, have participated more,” which makes the relationship between the subject and the claim difficult to follow. Organise the response into a clear introduction, a concise overview, and two paragraphs comparing related trends; avoid repeating the same points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant activity names and some suitable trend language, including “remain almost constant,” “drops,” “increased,” and “gradually reached.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the higher number,” “least participation,” and “participants took part in all types.” Spelling errors in “Amaetur,” “Musicial,” “performacesz,” and “demonstarted” also reduce accuracy. Use standard chart vocabulary and vary it carefully—for example, describe figures as rising, falling, remaining stable, or reaching a peak. Check spelling and choose precise terms for participant numbers and comparisons.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences communicate a basic idea, and you attempt some longer structures, for example, “In the case of Amaetur dramatics, the number drops…” However, the range is limited, and recurring errors in agreement and sentence construction make parts awkward. In “the number … range,” the singular subject needs a singular verb; “Film Club the participants remain” also needs clearer sentence structure and agreement. The phrase “the number of participants … have participated” incorrectly combines a singular subject with a plural verb and an unsuitable construction. There are also inconsistent tense choices when describing the graph. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine comparisons using controlled clauses, while checking subject–verb agreement and consistent present-tense reporting.
