Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall contrast: amateur dramatics declined, while table tennis rose sharply, and you note that film club remained the largest activity. These are relevant features, and several figures are close to the chart, including amateur dramatics at 26 initially and musical performances reaching about 18. However, some details are misreported: table tennis was about 16 in 2000 and 54 in 2020, not 17 in 2020; it rose from 20 in 2010 rather than remaining steady from 2000. Amateur dramatics peaked at about 28 in 2005, not 30. The film-club figures also fluctuated slightly rather than remaining steady. The overview is useful, but more accurate comparisons and clearer reporting of the major changes would make the summary more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to paragraphs describing the activities. This makes the main trends easy to locate, and transitions such as “Overall” and “However” help signal relationships. The organisation is not fully effective, though: the final paragraph combines musical performances and film club without a clear comparison, while the earlier detail paragraph groups three other activities. Some references are also unclear, particularly “which remain steady till 2010,” where the reader must infer that this refers to table tennis. Use more deliberate grouping—for example, rising activities together and declining or fluctuating ones together—and make each pronoun or reference point unmistakable. This would strengthen progression and reduce the slightly list-like feel.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “decline,” “steady,” “fluctuation,” and “sharply increased.” These choices communicate the broad patterns, and the activity names are generally handled clearly. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, however: “the data of the total participants” is awkward, “peaked” is used incorrectly in “was peaked,” and “steady declines” does not fit the intended description. There are also spelling errors such as “activites” and “particiants.” Aim for precise chart language and natural combinations, such as “the number of participants,” “reached a peak,” and “fell steadily.” Varying “participants” with “attendance” where appropriate can also make the account less repetitive.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while,” “which,” and “however,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, especially with agreement, tense, and sentence construction. For example, “the number of participant has increased” needs plural agreement in “participants” and a consistent past-time form; “Martial arts has 37 participant” also has agreement and plural errors. In “which was peaked,” the passive construction is not grammatical, and “which remain steady” should use a past-tense verb. The sentence beginning “Musical performances has no participants in 2000, by 2005…” joins two clauses with only a comma. Check subject–verb agreement and past-tense consistency, and separate or link clauses correctly.
