Student answer (Band 5.5)
The line graph gives an information about the number of participants who engaged in 5 different activities at a social center in Australian city, Melbourne, in past two decades.
Overall, it's evident from the data Film Club attracted maximum number of people to participate in related activities and remained popular among the people over the given time. While, Amateur Dramatics faced steady decrease in the demand among audiences.
Talking about Film Club, the highest number of participants were recorded in past 2 decades, which remained constant till 2020, with little to no changes observed.
Along with that, Table tennis and musical performaces also garb the reasonable attention of their potential participants, that started rising from up to 60 in 2020
Conversely, Amatuer Dramatics could be seen as taking a significant dip in popularity innitiating from 25 and goes down by around 5. Martial arts did not show any noticable change from 2000 to 2020 but remained on similar proportion from around 35 to 38, respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast between the consistently popular Film Club and the decline in Amateur Dramatics, and you mention the other activities. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear. Film Club did not remain constant: it dipped slightly to about 60 in 2010 before rising to around 66 in 2020. The statement that table tennis and musical performances rose “up to 60” is misleading; table tennis reached about 54, while musical performances rose only to around 18. Amateur Dramatics fell from roughly 26 to 6, not from 25 to 5. To make the summary more complete, report the major changes accurately and distinguish the two rising series from the relatively stable Martial Arts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, an overview and subsequent detail, so the reader can recognise an attempt to organise the information. The overview also highlights two relevant features. However, progression is uneven: the body moves from Film Club to two other activities, then back to Amateur Dramatics and Martial Arts, without a clear grouping of trends. Linking phrases such as “Along with that” and “Conversely” are used, but the relationship between the figures they introduce is not always clear. For example, the table-tennis and musical-performance sentence combines two very different outcomes. Group the series by pattern—stable, rising and falling—and use clearer references to make comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “popularity,” “decrease” and “dip,” and you attempt to vary your wording rather than repeat “number.” However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural, which sometimes makes the data difficult to interpret. “Gar b the reasonable attention” does not express the intended idea clearly, and “remained on similar proportion” is not a natural description of stable figures. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “performaces,” “Amatuer,” “innitiating” and “noticable.” Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully; precise verbs such as “rose,” “fell” and “fluctuated” will help you describe trends clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast introduced by “While” and the sentence beginning “Conversely.” However, control is inconsistent, and some sentence structures are incomplete or difficult to follow. “While, Amateur Dramatics faced…” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence, while “which remained constant till 2020” has an unclear reference and does not accurately connect to the preceding idea. In “Amateur Dramatics… initiating from 25 and goes down,” the verb forms do not fit together. Articles and sentence punctuation also need attention, as in “gives an information” and the comma after “While.” Build complete sentences with consistent tense and check that each pronoun or relative clause clearly refers to the intended activity.
