Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the graph’s subject and give a relevant overview, noting that the film club stayed most popular, table tennis and musical performances rose, and amateur dramatics declined. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it ends mid-sentence (“The most chamge sin”) and does not report the later figures or complete the key comparisons. Some details are also inaccurate: amateur dramatics rose to about 28 in 2005, not 37, and then fell to 20 in 2010, rather than “33 in 2010.” The response contains 107 words, below the required 150; the 12 words copied from the prompt are excluded. To improve, complete the summary and accurately describe the main changes through 2020.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by an overview and then a paragraph with figures for 2000 and subsequent years. This gives the reader some sense of the intended progression. However, the development is incomplete and the final fragment, “The most chamge sin,” leaves the response without a coherent ending. Connections between details are also unclear in places, particularly in “Over the nest decades participations in flim club dropped… where amateur dramatics…” The comparison is difficult to follow because several series are combined in one sentence without clear sequencing. Use complete paragraphs to group the overall trends and supporting data, and connect each time period and activity explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “highest participation,” “dramatic increase,” and “significant decrease,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the writing less clear, such as “Melborne,” “Flim,” “flactuation,” “graduallly,” and “chamge.” Some expressions are also imprecise or awkward: “Music al performance” is not a natural activity label, and “participations in flim club” is not the appropriate form. Use the chart’s labels consistently, such as “musical performances” and “film club,” and choose precise trend language. Proofreading spelling and word forms would make the information easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some basic sentence forms and an overview sentence with a contrast clause (“despite minor fluctuation”), but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “Table tennis and musical performance is at lower figures” has subject–verb agreement and tense problems; “followed bt martial arts” lacks a complete grammatical construction; and “where amateur dramatics slightly increased in 37 before dropping 33 in 2010” has unclear clause structure and missing prepositions. The unfinished final sentence also prevents the response from demonstrating control of a complete structure. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement with plural subjects, and complete comparisons, for example: “Table tennis rose from 16 participants in 2000 to 54 in 2020.”
