Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: film-club participation stays high, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. These are relevant features and give the response a clear overview. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. Martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s rather than remaining constant, and amateur dramatics falls to about 6 by 2020, not “nearly 4” or a figure that applies “for the rest of the year.” Musical performances begin at zero in 2000 and rise from 2010, rather than starting in 2005. The account also gives limited precise comparisons between series. Report the main turning points and end values accurately, and distinguish a stable overall level from small fluctuations to make the summary more complete and clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. The overview usefully groups the rising activities against the declining one, and phrases such as “In contrast” help signal a comparison. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The final paragraph moves between amateur dramatics, table tennis and musical performances in a long sentence, while “on the other hand” does not clearly connect the two trends being contrasted. Some linking phrases are also awkward or repetitive, such as “in addition to.” Give each paragraph a clearer focus, use shorter sentences to separate the series, and make references such as “the rest of the year” precise. This would make the overall organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “fluctuation,” “tremendous growth,” “sharp downfall,” “soaring dramatically” and “peak.” This shows an effort to describe change rather than simply list figures. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for chart reporting: “remained stagnant” and “remained constant” overstate the small fluctuations in the film and martial-arts figures, while “started its journey” is informal. Spelling errors such as “flactuation,” “indivisulas,” “substancial” and “decend” also reduce precision. Aim for standard, concise collocations such as “remained relatively stable,” “declined steadily” and “rose sharply,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate word choice would make your comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at complex sentences, for example the contrast introduced by “however” and the clause beginning “before soaring dramatically.” This gives some variety, but control is inconsistent. There are errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “the number members … remain stagnant,” and the opening of the detail paragraph, “the film and martial arts club experienced … their number … individuals,” is difficult to parse. The final paragraph contains a run-on structure with several ideas joined by commas, and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and separate each activity’s trend into its own sentence. More reliable agreement, articles and punctuation would improve readability.
