Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main activities and give an overview of the broad patterns, including film club’s consistently high participation, table tennis’s strong rise, and amateur dramatics’ decline. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: film club ends at about 66, not 68; martial arts finishes near 36, not 38; and musical performances rise to about 18 by 2020 rather than peaking at 17 in 2015. The overview also says musical performances remained at the lowest level and did not change significantly, although they increase from zero to around 18. Several trends are reported, but the overview and comparisons need more precise selection and reporting of the chart’s key features.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the figures. This helps the reader follow the general subject. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several activities and time points are joined in long sentences, such as the sentence beginning “In general, Amateur dramatics…” The linking words “moreover,” “while,” and “Lastly” are used, but some connections are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between the information. Grouping the rising activities together and the declining or fluctuating ones together would create a clearer progression. Use full stops to separate trends and make each comparison easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “fluctuation,” “rose sharply,” “remained,” and “decreased,” which is appropriate for describing a line graph. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to make some phrases difficult to understand: “file culb,” “dows,” “signifcant,” and “noticable” are examples. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “65 number of students,” “reached at 20 students,” and “not significally changed.” Use the chart’s term “participants” consistently rather than switching to “students,” and learn accurate collocations for describing figures and trends. More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You try to combine information using clauses and contrast, for example, “In contrast, table tenis…” and “while matrial arts…,” but complex sentences are often faulty or run together. Verb forms and agreement are inconsistent: “Film club has 65” and “it drop sharply” should use past forms when describing this completed period, while “number of participants … are” has a singular-plural mismatch. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “at single sociaal centre” and the missing space or punctuation in “2005after.” These recurring errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, correctly punctuated sentences before combining them.
