The line graph illustrates the number of participants in five distinct activities (film club, martial arts, amateur dramatics, table tennis, musical performances) at one social center in melbourne,Australia during the period from 2000 to 2020.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: film club participation remains highest, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. The response also covers all five activities and includes several relevant figures. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: film club starts at about 64, not 62; table tennis reaches about 54, rather than 50; and amateur dramatics falls to around 6, not 1. Musical performances begin at zero in 2000, then rise to about 18 by 2020; describing growth as occurring in 2005 is misleading. Also, the overview calls table tennis the second-highest activity without clarifying that it only reaches this position near the end. More precise comparisons and accurate endpoint reporting would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the data. The contrast signalled by “In contrast” helps distinguish the declining amateur dramatics figures from the other trends, and the activities are generally grouped in a sensible way. This provides coherent progression, though some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Additionally martial arts was observed to be fluctuating trend” does not connect smoothly to the preceding comparison, and “Moreover” introduces musical performances without explaining how its trend relates to the other series. The overview also combines several trends in one sentence, making the key comparisons less clear. Use more precise transitions and organise details around rising, falling, and relatively stable patterns.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “upward trend,” “declined,” “fluctuating,” and “reached its peak,” so the reader can understand the main patterns. However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated phrases such as “was observed” and “number of participants.” Several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “decling,” “paticipants,” and “significant growth” for a trend that begins at zero and rises gradually. The repeated use of percentages is also inappropriate because the graph reports participant numbers, not proportions. Aim for more precise terms such as “stood at,” “increased to,” and “fell to,” and check spelling and collocations. This would make the description more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast structures such as “While amateur dramatics was seen…” and “However…”. Nevertheless, grammatical errors occur in many sentences and sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Examples include “Overall, it clear” (missing “is”), “the film club was the highest number” (incorrect sentence structure), and “it dropped to 60% 2010” (missing a preposition). Verb forms and agreement are also inconsistent in phrases such as “it was observed the upward trend increases” and “the musical performances was seen.” Punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries need attention as well. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with consistent past-tense verbs, articles, and prepositions before adding more complex clauses.
