Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important patterns, including the film club’s consistently high participation, the sharp decline in amateur dramatics, and the strong rise in table tennis. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: musical performances were not the lowest throughout, since they rose from zero to 18, while amateur dramatics fell to just 6 by 2020. Some figures and comparisons are also imprecise; for example, film club participation dipped to 60 in 2010 before rising, rather than simply dropping to 60 and then remaining above it. The claim that film and martial arts followed the same trend is not supported by their differing movements. To improve, give a more accurate overview and select key changes with clearer, reliable comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. Sequencing expressions such as “Overall,” “Turning to,” “By contrast,” and “Finally” help signal shifts between trends. However, progression is uneven, and some connections are unclear or repetitive. The sentence “if compared the film and martial art followed the same trend it kept constant members” is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain the comparison. The final paragraph also combines several series without a clear hierarchy, while “Finally” introduces musical performances only briefly. Organise the body around contrasting trends—for example, stable/high participation versus rising or declining activities—and use clearer references to make each comparison easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “levelled,” “gradually increased,” and “dramatically,” and these help describe changes over time. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “amounts of participants,” “top choose,” “dynamic changes,” and “reached at peaked.” There is also inconsistency in labels, such as “musical performance” and “music,” where the chart category is musical performances. Aim for precise trend language and natural collocations, and use the activity names consistently. This would make the report more fluent and accurate without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is generally understandable, but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in verb forms and agreement, as in “we can observed” and “The member … are slightly drop,” as well as in sentence construction: “if compared the film and martial art followed the same trend it kept constant members.” Articles, capitalization, and punctuation are also unreliable, for example “in the capital of the Australia” and the lowercase “if” after a full stop. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build longer comparisons from a clear main clause, checking agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
