Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall pattern: film club participation is highest, table tennis rises markedly, and amateur dramatics declines. Several figures are also close to the chart, including film club at about 65 initially and musical performances at around 18 in 2020. However, some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s rather than reaching a peak of 38 and then remaining steady, while table tennis rises from about 20 in 2010 to 54 in 2020, not from 20 in 2010 as a clearly described increase from that point alone. The overview also calls musical performances among the least popular without noting that it rises from zero to 18. The response is 9 words below the required minimum. Add a fuller overview and more precise comparisons across the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response follows a generally understandable order, moving from an opening summary to descriptions of the individual activities. Time markers such as “In the year 2000,” “From the beginning of the period,” and “Lastly” help the reader follow the account. However, it is presented as one paragraph, so the overview and supporting details are not clearly separated. Some links between ideas are also awkward: “While the activity level…” is not a complete sentence, and “After reaching a peak…” does not clearly connect the peak to the subsequent pattern. Grouping the overview separately and then comparing the rising and falling activities would create clearer progression. Use linking phrases to show contrasts and changes, rather than relying mainly on a sequence of time markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “hover around,” “declined,” “climbed,” “fluctuations,” and “participants,” which helps communicate trends. There is also an attempt to vary wording rather than repeat “increased” throughout. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “activity level among participants,” “remained steady” for martial arts, and “showed the least interest,” which describes participants’ motivation rather than the numbers shown. Spelling errors such as “Austrailia,” “continously,” and “particpants,” along with the misspelling in “co currciular,” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language such as “the number of participants” and “rose steadily,” and proofread spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including “which continued to hover around…” and “despite some fluctuations…,” and the main trends are usually understandable. Some errors in sentence formation and punctuation remain. For example, “While the activity level… was the least” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, and “Overall film club participants were the highest followed martial arts participants” needs clearer grammatical construction and punctuation. Commas are often followed immediately by the next word, and full stops do not consistently have spaces after them. There are also awkward tense and clause patterns in “After reaching a peak of 38 participants the trend…”. Use complete sentences, check subject–verb relationships, and punctuate clauses carefully.
