Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant features, especially the near-stability of the film club, the strong rise in table tennis, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it gives no clear overall overview of the main changes, and the musical performances trend is reported inaccurately as increasing “since 2020,” rather than rising from zero in 2000 to about 18 by 2020. Some figures and descriptions are also imprecise: film club participation fluctuated slightly rather than remaining the same, while martial arts varied rather than staying constant. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview and accurately compare the major trends across the full period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some basic organisation: it begins with an introduction, then discusses film club and table tennis before mentioning the other activities. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover” help signal movement between points. However, the progression is limited, and the final details feel added on rather than integrated into a clear summary. The comparison paragraph also repeats the idea that table tennis increased without explaining its stages, while the brief statements about martial arts and musical performances are not developed. Use a clearer structure—an overview followed by grouped comparisons—and connect related trends with precise references such as “by contrast” or “while”.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general subject and some trends, using terms such as “participants,” “comparison,” and “increased.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear. For example, “make a good performance” and “make a good process” do not naturally describe a rise in participation; “ratio” is not appropriate for the number of members; and “material art” appears to mean “martial arts.” There are also spelling and word-form problems, including “sice” and “participates.” Choose standard graph language such as “the figure rose,” “participation remained broadly stable,” and “the number of participants,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas, and the main subject of the graph is generally understandable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For instance, “The ratio … remain” has a singular subject with an incorrect verb form, and “the members … remains same” has both agreement and article problems. In “it reach to almost 5,” the verb form and construction are inaccurate, while “In 2020, there were about 63 and around 55 members … respectively” is awkwardly structured. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with controlled clauses, for example, “Film-club numbers remained stable, whereas table tennis rose sharply.”
