Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview: the film club remains the most popular, table tennis grows, and amateur dramatics declines. The film-club figures you report are also broadly accurate. However, the response covers only a small part of the data: it gives no details about martial arts, musical performances, or the substantial rise in table tennis from about 16 to 54 participants. The decline in amateur dramatics is mentioned but not supported with figures. The response is also well below the required 150 words, leaving the main features insufficiently reported. Develop the overview with the key contrasts, then add accurate comparisons and figures for the other activities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, sensible order: an introduction, an overview, and then a detail about the film club. This gives the reader a clear starting point, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In contrast” help signal the relationship between ideas. However, the account stops before developing the other trends, so there is little progression beyond the film-club description. The final paragraph could be followed by separate comparisons of table tennis and amateur dramatics, then the remaining activities. Check spacing and punctuation around transitions—for example, “In contrast, participation”—to make the links easier to read. A fuller, consistently organised report would make the structure more complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “remained fairly stable,” “slight dip,” and “fell significantly,” and these phrases communicate the main trends clearly. There is some useful variation in describing change, but the range is limited by the short response and repeated reliance on general terms such as “number” and “figure.” There are also spelling errors in “diffrent” and “wuth,” which reduce accuracy. To describe the data more precisely, use terms such as “rose sharply” for table tennis and “declined steadily” for amateur dramatics, supported by figures. Continue checking spelling and choose collocations carefully, such as “participation in the film club” rather than simply repeating “the film club had”.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You form several clear sentences and attempt a range of structures, including the contrast in “while the table tennis shows the dramatic growth” and the time sequence “before the rising to approximately 65.” Most of the intended meaning is understandable, but errors in sentence boundaries, articles, and verb forms affect accuracy. For example, “this number” should begin with a capital letter, and “before the rising” should be “before rising.” The phrase “the table tennis” also uses an unnecessary article in this context. There are inconsistent spaces before commas and full stops. Practise proofreading these details and use accurate past-tense forms consistently when reporting changes over the completed period.
