Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main categories and include relevant comparisons, especially the film club’s leading position and the contrasting decline in amateur dramatics and rise in table tennis. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: film club participation did not remain steady, but dipped slightly before rising to about 66; table tennis plateaued only from 2005 to 2010, then climbed sharply; and musical performances began in 2010, not 2005. The overview also says the other activities fluctuated, although musical performances rose steadily and amateur dramatics declined consistently. These omissions and misreadings make the account only partly complete. Select the clearest overall trends and check each reported stage against the graph before writing the detail paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. It also groups several activities together, which helps the reader follow the comparison. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because multiple series and time periods are packed into long sentences. Connectors such as “while,” “after that” and “whereas” are used, but some links are awkward or do not clearly signal the relationship between the figures. For example, the table-tennis and martial-arts trends are combined in one sentence. Use separate, clearly organised sentences for each trend, and make references such as “this figure” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some suitable trend vocabulary, including “fluctuations,” “plateau” and “slumped,” and the activity names are generally clear. However, the range and control are uneven: phrases such as “were at top,” “stood steady” and “went up gradually” are imprecise or unnatural for describing a graph. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “partisipants,” “actiivity,” “tenis” and “respectvely,” which reduce the accuracy of the report. Aim for precise, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a series as “remained relatively stable” only when the figures support that, and use “rose sharply” for the marked increase in table tennis after 2010.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, using clauses with “while,” “after that” and “whereas.” However, sentence control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences that join several trends. Examples include “the activity of Table tenis it participants were 15” and “in 2005 and 2010 were 30 and 40,” where the sentence structure and relationships between subjects and figures are unclear. There are also problems with articles, punctuation and capitalisation, such as the comma spacing in the opening and capitalising “The” after a comma. Build shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then use complex clauses selectively and check punctuation.
