Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall movements: table tennis rises strongly, amateur dramatics declines, and film club remains the leading activity. You also include relevant figures, such as film club’s 64 participants in 2000 and table tennis’s 16 at the start. This covers the task well, with a clear overview and mostly accurate comparisons. Some details are less fully reported, however: martial arts is described only as fluctuating, without noting that it stays within a fairly narrow range, and the film-club account omits its final figure of about 66. Also, calling table tennis the “second popular” category in 2020 is imprecise; it is second to film club. More precise end-point comparisons would strengthen the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. The contrast between amateur dramatics and table tennis in the final paragraph helps the reader follow the main changes, and linking expressions such as “while” and “Moreover” show an attempt to connect comparisons. However, the overview’s final sentence, “While martial arts presented fluctuation,” is a fragment, and the paragraph beginning “The remaining categories” groups two trends without a particularly smooth transition. Some linking is also mechanical or imprecise. Organise the body more deliberately around stable/fluctuating activities and major rises or falls, and use complete sentences and clearer references to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of trend vocabulary, including “increased significantly,” “fluctuated,” “sharp drop,” and “surged,” which communicates the main patterns. The activity names are handled clearly, and the language is generally appropriate for describing a graph. Some word choices and collocations are less natural or precise: “proportion of participants” suggests percentages, although the graph gives numbers; “participants of table tennis” is awkward; and “the second popular category” is not idiomatic. Repetition of “participants” and “activity” also limits flexibility. Choose terms that match the units and use natural collocations, such as “number of participants,” “participation in table tennis,” and “the second most popular activity.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple statements and more complex comparisons, for example, “which decreased gradually in 2010 and then increased in 2020” and the contrast introduced by “whereas.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. “While martial arts presented fluctuation” is an incomplete subordinate clause; it needs to be joined to a main clause or rewritten as a complete sentence. In “while percentage of people,” the article is missing, and “amateur dramatics had 26 participants in 2000 which rose slightly” has an unclear relative clause, since the number—not the activity—rose. Review articles, clause boundaries, and relative-clause references, while retaining the range of sentence structures you already attempt.
