Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important patterns, including the sharp rise in table-tennis participation, the decline in amateur dramatics, and the late growth in musical performances. The approximate figures you give for these trends are generally close to the chart. However, the overview is not sufficiently accurate: you say film-club participation “stayed constant,” although it dipped slightly before rising to its highest level, and martial-arts numbers fluctuated rather than remaining stable. The response also gives limited attention to the key comparisons across the period, such as table tennis becoming the second most popular activity by 2020. A clearer overview of the main rises, falls and relative rankings, supported by more precise descriptions of change, would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the chart, groups table tennis with amateur dramatics, then discusses the other activities. This makes the main information reasonably easy to follow. Some linking is effective, as in “Meanwhile” and “However,” but other transitions are awkward or mechanical. “Similarly in contrast” combines two conflicting signals, and “Overall” is attached directly to the preceding sentence without a space. The final overview also repeats the film-club comparison rather than drawing together the main trends. Use clearer paragraphing and a small number of precise links, and organise the body around contrasting trends or popularity levels to create stronger progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased,” “fell,” “remained stable” and “compared with,” so the reader can understand the broad trends. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “activities of participant” and “martial arts participant's activities” are unnatural, while “limited interest” interprets participant numbers as public interest. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “particpants,” “Similiarly,” “particpated” and “partipation.” Aim for concise, accurate phrases such as “the number of participants” and “participation in the activity,” and check spelling carefully. More varied language for describing fluctuations and rankings would also help you report the data more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and “compared with,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur. The opening should be “The line graph illustrates,” with singular agreement, and “the number of participants” is more grammatically appropriate than “activities of participant.” In “showing no one had participated in year 2000 till 2005,” the time expression and verb construction are faulty; write, for example, “with no participants in 2000 or 2005.” The sentence about amateur dramatics also lacks a clear verb after “activities.” Review agreement, articles, and complete clause structure, and punctuate sentence boundaries consistently.
