Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important patterns, including the sharp rise in table tennis, the decline in amateur dramatics, and the relative stability of martial arts. The overview also recognises that film club participation changes only modestly. However, some details are inaccurate: musical performances first appear in 2010, not 2005, and reach about 18 in 2020 rather than more than 20. Film club rises to about 66, not 70, while martial arts fluctuates around the mid-30s rather than falling to 30. The response addresses the task, but some trends and figures are reported less fully or precisely than others. Check each series against the graph and use approximate values consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the periods. This gives the reader a coherent route through the information, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “In the subsequent decade” help signal relationships. At times, however, the organisation is mechanical or the references are unclear. For example, “their numbers” does not clearly identify the participants in musical performances, and the second body paragraph groups several trends without a consistent comparison. Organise the details by activity or by clear time periods, and use explicit subjects such as “the number of musical-performance participants” to make connections easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “declined,” “increased,” “fell abruptly,” and “soared slightly.” These choices show an attempt to vary your language rather than repeat one verb throughout. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “activities were surged,” “Amateur dramatics was plunged,” and “people of martial arts got declined.” “Ratio” is also unsuitable for the number of table-tennis participants, and “person” should be plural when referring to more than one participant. Spelling errors such as “obevious” and “nd” further reduce accuracy. Choose standard chart-description phrases and check spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “whereas” and “but,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. In the overview, “It is obevious that…” has incorrect capitalisation after the comma and an incorrect sentence form; “activities were surged” also uses an incorrect passive construction. Other examples include “there was nobody interested” and “which were less than 10,” where the phrasing or agreement is faulty. Punctuation around conjunctions is sometimes awkward, as in “but, again increased.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and past-tense trend structures, while keeping complex sentences controlled.
