Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all five activities and provide a clear overview, identifying the strong later growth in table tennis and musical performances and the decline in amateur dramatics. Most reported figures and trends are broadly accurate. However, some details are imprecise: table tennis rose to about 54 in 2020, not 52, and the film club ended at about 66 rather than 65. The description of table tennis also skips its intermediate rise to 36 in 2015, while the overview’s claim that film club and martial arts had “varying” numbers is less informative than comparing their relatively stable patterns. Develop the key comparisons more fully and use the overview to distinguish the largest increase, the steepest decline, and the consistently most popular activity.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing the activities. This gives the reader a generally logical route through the information, and linking phrases such as “In contrast” and “However” help signal comparisons. To make the progression more controlled, group related series more deliberately and avoid placing several long descriptions in one sentence. For example, the film club and martial arts account is joined by “Similarly” but then shifts between two trends without a clear break. The table-tennis sentence also jumps from its starting figure directly to 2020. More precise sequencing of the intermediate years, with clearer sentence boundaries, would make the comparisons easier to follow and reduce the slightly mechanical use of transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “gradually declined,” “steady increase,” and “sharp decline.” These choices communicate the main movements, and terms such as “participants” and “recorded” are relevant to the task. Some word choices are imprecise or too informal for a graph summary: “users” is less suitable than “participants,” while “kicked off” and “skyrocketed” sound conversational or exaggerated. There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “exprienced” and “drastical,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for consistent, neutral reporting language and choose trend verbs that match the scale of change. This would make the vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including time clauses and contrasts, and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. Examples include “from an high number,” where the article should agree with the following vowel sound, and “which it recorded 15 participants,” where the clause structure is incomplete. Several sentences run together, such as the long account beginning “In 2000, Film club started…”; the comma before “Similarly” should be replaced with a full stop or semicolon. There are also inconsistent tense and sentence-pattern choices in phrases such as “at 2005 it recorded.” Check articles, clause construction, and punctuation, and divide long sentences so that each comparison is grammatically complete.
