Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall patterns: film club remains the most popular, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. These are relevant features, and you include some figures to support them. However, several details are inaccurate or incomplete. Film club falls to about 60 in 2010 and finishes near 66, rather than rising to nearly 68; martial arts ends at about 36, not 40. Amateur dramatics starts near 26, not 32, and falls to around 6 by 2020, but the response does not report this endpoint. Musical performances are mentioned in the overview but not developed with figures. A more complete account of the key changes and more accurate comparisons would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the figures. The overview also helps the reader identify the main trends before the details. However, the progression is uneven because musical performances are noted in the overview but then omitted from the body, while the final paragraph gives only a vague account of amateur dramatics. Some linking is repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “over the years” and “over the time.” The sentence about martial arts joins several ideas with commas, making the relationship between its starting figure, fluctuations, and final figure less clear. Grouping the rising and falling activities more systematically and using clearer sentence boundaries would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some appropriate task vocabulary, including “illustrates,” “fluctuated,” “significant growth,” and “most popular,” which helps communicate the graph’s main patterns. However, the range is limited and several word-form, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision: “Austrailia,” “remaind,” “amaetur,” “considerabely,” and “perfomance” are misspelled, while “the table tennis are increase rapidly” is not a natural way to describe a trend. “Persons” is also less suitable here than “participants.” Try to use a wider set of accurate trend verbs and phrases, such as “rose steadily,” “declined sharply,” and “remained relatively stable,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There is an attempt to use both simple and more complex forms, including the overview contrast “while table tennis experienced significant growth” and the clause beginning “before rising.” However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “participation in amateur dramatics are declined” has incorrect agreement and verb form, and “approximately 64 persons are participated” uses an incorrect passive construction. In “the numbers are fluctuated,” the verb form is also faulty; “the table tennis are increase” has further agreement and tense problems. Several ideas are joined by commas rather than formed into clear sentences. Practise consistent past-tense reporting and build shorter, accurate sentences before adding more complex clauses.
