Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant features, including the film club’s high participation, the decline in amateur dramatics, and growth in table tennis and musical performances. However, the response only partially reports the graph and contains important inaccuracies: the chart concerns one social centre in Melbourne, not “two countries,” and martial arts had about 38 participants in 2010, not 42. The overview is also unclear and inaccurate: the activities did not all fluctuate noticeably, since musical performances rose steadily after starting at zero, while amateur dramatics fell substantially. The account stops during the 2010 description and omits the important 2020 comparisons. A clearer overview and accurate coverage of the main trends are needed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response chronologically, moving from 2000 to 2010, and you use linking expressions such as “Whereas” and “In contrast.” However, the progression is incomplete: the response ends mid-sentence (“over the levele of”) and does not provide a concluding overview of the later years. The overview paragraph also does not clearly guide the reader, and several transitions are awkward or mechanically introduced with “But.” Grouping the series by trend—for example, the broadly stable film club and martial arts figures versus the sharply changing table tennis and amateur dramatics figures—would create a clearer structure. Check that each paragraph and sentence is complete and that linking words accurately express the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “experienced a noticeable fall,” and “increased,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make the report less clear. “Applicants” is not the right term for people taking part in activities, and “Material arts” appears to mean “martial arts.” There are also spelling errors such as “Oveall,” “noticable,” and “dramatrics,” alongside awkward phrases such as “peak level” and “over the levele of.” Use precise chart language such as “stood at,” “rose to,” and “declined to,” and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “Whereas” and a sentence beginning “In contrast.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “over 65 participants was present” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “all the activities experience fluctuation” uses an unsuitable tense. The opening sentence is also structurally confusing, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise writing complete, accurate sentences in the past tense, such as “The number of participants in the film club stood at about 60 in 2010.” Use commas and full stops to separate ideas clearly.
