Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall pattern: the film club remains the most popular activity, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis rises markedly. You also cover all five activities and make relevant comparisons, including table tennis reaching the second-highest position by 2020. This gives the report a sound overview, with some key trends supported by details. However, several statements are inaccurate or unclear: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and amateur dramatics did not have a “good start” followed by a rise in 2005 before its decline; it rose slightly from 2000 to 2005, then fell. The report also gives few precise figures. More accurate, selective data and a clearer account of the main changes would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the activities. Grouping film club and martial arts before discussing the other series helps the reader follow the report, and transitions such as “Starting with” and “Furthermore” signal movement between points. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated sequencing words such as “later,” “subsequently,” and “lastly.” Some links are unclear or awkward, particularly “Since than it has been increasing the number of participations,” and the final paragraph shifts between activities without consistently organising them by trend. Use clearer topic sentences and connect comparisons directly—for example, contrast the sharp rise in table tennis with the decline in amateur dramatics—to make cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “dominating,” “trajectory downward,” “fluctuate,” “static position,” and “striking increase.” These choices show an effort to describe trends rather than simply repeat the chart labels. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “datum of numerous participants,” “the gradual trajectory downward situation,” and “the fluctuate situation.” There are also spelling and word-form problems, including “Austrilia,” “participations,” and “Amateur arts” for amateur dramatics. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for precise, conventional collocations such as “number of participants,” “fluctuated,” and “declined steadily,” and check spelling and activity names carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, linked sentences, for example, “However gradually it started to rise and held the highest position.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “the martial arts have seen the fluctuate situation,” “the situation … have seen,” and “in 2005 is was going up.” Several sentences also lack necessary punctuation or contain comma splices, as in “Starting with film club, year 2000 it started…” and “from 2000 to 2005 it was in a static position. Later…” Use a consistent past tense for the historical data, check subject–verb agreement, and separate complete sentences with appropriate punctuation.
