Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main pattern that the film club remained the most popular activity, and you report the contrasting rise in table tennis and decline in amateur dramatics. Several figures and trends are also accurately described, including film club’s slight dip before recovery and musical performances starting at zero. However, the overview says martial arts was volatile, although its figures fluctuate only modestly around the mid-30s; this is less significant than the sharp table-tennis increase. The account also omits useful comparisons, such as table tennis overtaking amateur dramatics and approaching the film club by 2020. More precise coverage of martial arts and clearer comparisons would make the summary more complete and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the main trends. Information is generally grouped sensibly, with film club and table tennis discussed together before the declining and newly emerging activities. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “followed by,” and “While” help show relationships between ideas. However, the final paragraph combines two contrasting series in a long sentence, making the comparison harder to follow, and the overview’s reference to martial arts as volatile does not prepare the reader for the limited discussion of that activity. Use shorter, more balanced sentences and give each important trend a clear place in the overview and detail paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of trend vocabulary, including “marginal decline,” “gradual increase,” “drastic uptick,” and “consistently decreased.” These choices make the main movements understandable and show some flexibility beyond basic terms such as “rise” and “fall.” Some collocations and expressions are less natural or precise, however: “had 16 number of participants,” “gained popularity,” and “saw a drastic growth” could be expressed more idiomatically for chart description. “Volatile trend” also overstates the small fluctuations in martial arts. Aim for accurate, restrained language that describes the data rather than implying causes or stronger changes than the graph shows.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the contrast structure beginning “While category of amateur dramatics…” and the sequence “followed by a gradual increase.” Most meanings remain clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, the opening needs an article (“illustrates the trend”), and “Film club” should not be separated from the rest of its sentence by a comma after “Overall it can be seen that.” The phrase “had 16 number of participants” has an inaccurate noun construction, while “category … which had zero participants” would benefit from clearer sentence boundaries. Check articles, punctuation, and clause structure, and vary sentence lengths to improve control.
