Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important patterns, including the film club’s leading position, the fall in amateur dramatics, and the strong rise in table tennis. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and the film club ended at about 66 participants rather than 70. Table tennis rose sharply after 2010, so describing its growth as “constant” misses the main change. The overview also says martial arts had “stagnent growth,” although its figures fluctuate, and the final comparison does not clearly summarise the overall changes. Select the most significant trends and report them accurately, using the chart’s approximate values.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing figures at different points in time. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because the account jumps between years and uses connectors mechanically or inaccurately. For example, “By 2005 all the activities had the constant growth” is not supported by the data, while “Followed by 2020” does not clearly signal a time comparison. Some sentences combine several activities without clear relationships, particularly the final sentence. Grouping the main rising, falling, and fluctuating trends into coherent paragraphs, and using precise links such as “by contrast” or “over the following decade,” would improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “decline,” “most popular,” “peak,” and “constant growth,” and the reader can generally identify the activities being discussed. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a line graph. Calling activities “visiting sites” or “places” confuses activities with locations, and “players” is not suitable for every category. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “diffrent,” “moost,” “participents,” and “Ameteur,” which reduce clarity and control. Use standard chart language consistently—for example, “participants,” “figure,” “rose,” and “fluctuated”—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons introduced by “While” and “Whereas.” However, errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to interpret. Examples include “Film club is the most popular” when describing past data, “had a decline and had a equivalent point,” and “had a decline at reach at 5.” Agreement and sentence boundaries are also problematic in “Amateur Dramatics and Table tennies was,” and the overview begins a new sentence with lowercase “and.” Work on consistent past-tense reporting, articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentence construction. Shorter, accurately controlled comparisons would be more effective than combining several trends in one sentence.
