Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You provide a clear overview of the main patterns: the film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. Most reported figures and comparisons are broadly consistent with the graph, including the film club’s range and amateur dramatics falling to about five or six participants. However, the response sometimes over-generalises: “all categories experienced a rise except amateur dramatics” is inaccurate because martial arts fluctuates around a similar level rather than showing a sustained rise. Musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and the graph reports participants, not percentages or artists. More precise reporting of these details, alongside the strong overview, would make the account more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview, then to details and a concluding statement. The main trends are generally easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “however” help connect ideas. This gives the report a coherent overall arrangement. However, some connections are awkward or mechanical: “Followed by participants of musical performances” is a sentence fragment, while the long final body paragraph shifts between several activities without clear grouping. The conclusion also repeats the overview rather than adding useful comparison. Grouping the rising activities together and separating stable martial arts from declining amateur dramatics would create clearer progression and more controlled cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary suited to describing trends, including “dominated,” “substantial increase,” “fluctuations,” “soared,” and “declined.” These choices show some awareness of how to summarise a graph. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice problems limit precision: “displayes,” “ammateur,” “catagory,” “amung,” and “conclusion” are misspelled, while “grew up” and “lost their participation frequency” are unnatural collocations. The repeated use of “category” and “participants” also makes the account less flexible. Use standard trend language consistently and check spelling; for example, say that participation “rose sharply” or “fell steadily,” and refer to participant numbers rather than percentages.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex sentences, including clauses with “which” and contrastive links such as “however” and “nevertheless.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but control is uneven, and several sentence structures are faulty. For example, “Overall, film club participants dominated by remaining…” lacks a correctly formed verb, and “This category was introduced in 2005, however managed…” joins clauses incorrectly. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “during 20 years period” and the capitalised “Followed by…” fragment. Aim for complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and punctuate contrast clauses carefully. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied structures easier to read.
