Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You provide a clear overview of the main patterns: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. These are accurate and relevant features, and the response covers all five activities. Several figures are also reported reasonably closely, such as film club at about 60 in 2010 and martial arts at 38. To make the account more complete, include the key stages in table tennis’s rise (from about 16 in 2000 to 54 in 2020) and musical performances’ start around 2010, rather than saying only “After 2005 it increased.” The overview also calls musical performances the lowest throughout, although it reaches about 18 by 2020, above amateur dramatics. The broad coverage is strong, but these details and comparisons need greater precision.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the figures. The grouping of film club and martial arts, followed by the other activities, gives the reader a workable route through the data. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “After that,” and “In contrast” help signal relationships. However, “After that” is repeated often and sometimes makes the sequence feel mechanical. The final paragraph also moves between amateur dramatics, table tennis, and musical performances without clearly separating their trends, and “both show some growth” is not fully clear about which years are being compared. Use more precise time references and organise each paragraph around a clear comparison to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to describe the graph, including “fluctuations,” “declined sharply,” “rose gradually,” and “climbed sharply.” These choices communicate the main movements, and the range is appropriate for a data summary. However, several spelling and word-form errors are noticeable, including “amateure,” “continuious,” “numer,” and “climed.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “had 60 number of participants” and “in starting.” Repetition of “show” and “increased” limits flexibility. Aim for accurate collocations such as “stood at,” “the number of participants,” and “at the beginning,” and check spelling carefully. More precise trend vocabulary would help distinguish a stable pattern from a rise or fluctuation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “whereas” and “while,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “film club … fluctuate” should use a past-tense verb, and “Martial arts had show” needs a correct past participle or a simpler construction. There are also problems with articles and sentence patterns in “had the approximately the highest number” and “It had 60 number of participants.” These errors sometimes make the data descriptions awkward, even when the intended meaning can be inferred. Practise consistent past-tense reporting and build accurate patterns such as “the figure was approximately 65” and “participation fell to 33.”
