Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: film club remains the largest activity, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis and musical performances rise. You also make relevant comparisons and include figures for most series. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: film club is about 64 in 2000 and 66 in 2020, rather than around 62 at both endpoints; amateur dramatics falls to about 6, not 9; and musical performances rise from 0 in 2000 to about 18, rather than “double” from 2005. The overview also says martial arts fluctuated “at the end,” although it varies throughout and finishes close to its starting level. More precise reporting of these key changes would make the summary more complete and reliable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs that group the activities in a broadly sensible way. This makes the main trends easy to locate. However, some linking is mechanical or confusing. For example, “While, Amateur dramatics…” is not a complete contrast, and “However” is used repeatedly without always marking a clear opposition. Several sentences also combine multiple stages without clear punctuation, such as the film-club sentence moving from its decline to later rises. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each comparison directly to the trend it contrasts with. This would improve progression and make the relationships between figures easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “downward trend,” “fluctuated,” “steady,” and “significant decrease,” which is appropriate for describing a graph. There are also attempts at more varied wording, but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “actors,” “partners,” and “participators” are not suitable substitutes for participants, while “considerable higher” and “double” do not express the intended meanings precisely. Spelling errors such as “acticities” and “partcipants” also reduce accuracy. Aim for consistent, precise terms such as “participants” and “figure,” and choose collocations that describe the data directly. The range is adequate, but control of word choice and spelling is uneven.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses and time sequences, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence construction and verb patterns. “While, Amateur dramatics showed…” uses an incomplete clause and incorrect punctuation; “it then double to around 18” needs a correctly formed verb; and “table tennis figure rose minimally to 20 remained stable” joins clauses without the necessary connector or punctuation. There are also inconsistent article and plural patterns. These errors do not usually prevent the reader from understanding the trends, but they make several sentences awkward. Build complex sentences carefully, checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
