Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You provide a clear overview of the main patterns: the film club stays most popular, table tennis grows strongly, and amateur dramatics declines to the lowest level. The figures you give for table tennis and amateur dramatics are broadly accurate, and you also note the rise in musical performances. However, the account is incomplete because it gives no supporting figures or trend description for the film club or martial arts, despite mentioning both in the overview. The overview also says martial arts remained stable, but this is not developed in the body. To strengthen the response, report the film club’s slight dip and recovery and give a brief account of martial arts’ fluctuations, so the main series are covered more evenly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs describing the changing activities. Sequencing within the table-tennis and amateur-dramatics descriptions is generally clear, and phrases such as “After that” and “Finally” help signal progression. However, the body does not follow through on all the activities introduced in the overview: film club and martial arts are not described with data, which leaves the coverage uneven. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “After” and “Finally.” Grouping the stable or fluctuating series together, and using clearer comparisons between them, would create a more complete and smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a suitable range of trend vocabulary, including “remained the most popular,” “significant growth,” “declined considerably,” and “upward trend.” These expressions communicate the main patterns effectively. However, several spelling errors and inaccurate word forms reduce precision, including “wherease,” “remined,” “Ameteur,” and “perfomances.” “Marital arts” is also the wrong word choice for the activity, and “the number went up” is less precise than a chart-focused verb such as “rose.” Aim to check spelling carefully and use consistent, accurate terms for each activity. More precise verbs and collocations would make the description sound more controlled and appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and more complex structures, for example, “After rising slightly from 26 participant in 2000 to 28 in 2005, its numbers fell…” This shows some ability to vary sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, some grammatical errors remain: “it increases quickly” shifts into the present tense while describing past data, and “26 participant” needs a plural noun. The sentence beginning “Finally, musical performances…” also has a faulty verb form in “gained popularity gradually, increases.” Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Keep the past tense consistent, check singular and plural forms, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
