Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify all five activities and report several broad trends, including the film club’s consistently high participation, the sharp rise in table tennis, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the account is only partially accurate and the overview is limited: the final sentence says the film club was among the most popular, but does not summarise the major changes across the period. Some figures and time points are misreported. For example, table tennis rose from about 16 in 2000 to 54 in 2020, not from 18 to 20 before a jump; martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s rather than rising to 40 and then falling to 39. Describe the main trends accurately and compare the series directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is arranged in a generally understandable sequence: it introduces the graph, discusses the activities one by one, and ends with an overall statement. This gives the reader some organisation, but there is little overall progression from the most important features to supporting details, and the overview comes only at the end. Linking words such as “But,” “after sometime,” and “later” are repeated or used imprecisely, so relationships between changes are not always clear. The table-tennis paragraph, for instance, gives a confusing sequence of values and years. Use a separate overview after the introduction, then group the strongest increases and decreases, and use clear time references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to identify the activities and describe simple movement, with phrases such as “rise up,” “decrease,” and “reached.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the description awkward. “Film club participant” needs a more natural expression such as “the number of film-club participants,” while “he” is not suitable for referring to a figure or activity. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “illusrate,” “perfomances,” and “deacrese.” Build a more precise set of trend expressions—such as “remained stable,” “fluctuated,” and “rose sharply”—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple present-tense patterns, and the reader can usually identify the intended activity and time period. However, the range of sentence structures is narrow, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, tense, and sentence construction make parts difficult to follow. For example, “The line graph illusrate” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Film club participant in 2000 is about 64%after sometime in 2010 is about is 60%” combines clauses without a clear grammatical structure. The repeated use of “he” for activities also creates unclear reference. Practise accurate comparative sentences in the past tense, such as “The number rose from 16 in 2000 to 54 in 2020,” and use full stops to separate ideas.
