Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all five activities and give a clear overview of the main patterns: film club remains the most popular, table tennis rises strongly, amateur dramatics declines, and musical performances increase from zero. Most figures are close to the chart, including film club at about 65 initially and 66 at the end. The account of martial arts is also broadly accurate, though its peak is closer to 38 than 39. Some details are less fully reported: table tennis’s sharp acceleration after 2010 is not made explicit, and the overview says one activity remained constant even though none does. To strengthen the response, make the overview fully precise and compare the most important changes, such as table tennis overtaking martial arts by 2015.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing the activities. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and the sequence of years within each description is usually clear. However, the overview is separated by a full stop after “Overall,” and several descriptions begin with sentence fragments, such as “Starting with 36 participants in 2000” and “Begin with 18 participants in 2000.” These interrupt the flow between ideas. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “Then returned to 36 in 2020,” which does not clearly identify the subject. Use complete sentences and connect comparisons more smoothly; grouping related trends could also make the progression more cohesive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “fluctuation,” “soared,” “gradually declined,” and “outpacing,” which helps convey changes rather than merely listing figures. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “activites,” “deline,” “approximetely,” and “slisghtly” are examples. Several collocations or forms are also unsuitable, such as “reached at peak postion,” “outpacing of,” and “startinf with scratch.” Choose precise, conventional expressions for chart descriptions and check spelling carefully. For instance, “rose to a peak of” and “began at zero” would communicate the intended trends more clearly and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There are attempts at varied sentence forms, including contrast with “Although” and time-linked descriptions, and the main trends can generally be understood. However, errors in sentence construction and verb forms recur. “Starting with 36 participants in 2000” is a fragment, while “Martial arts participants was” has subject–verb disagreement. In “it decreased … and reach at peak,” the verb form and sentence pattern are faulty; “Amateur dramatic stands 28 participants” also lacks a suitable past-tense construction. Punctuation is inconsistent, including the full stop after “Overall” and lower-case sentence openings. Build complete sentences with consistent past-tense verbs, and check agreement and punctuation; this will make your varied structures more controlled.
