Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall patterns: the film club remains the largest activity, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis and musical performances grow. Several figures are also broadly accurate, such as table tennis reaching about 55 and amateur dramatics falling below 10 by 2020. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: amateur dramatics begins at about 26, not 18, and the film club starts at about 64 rather than 62. The account of martial arts is only a general statement about fluctuations, without describing its relatively stable range of roughly 32–38. The overview also says the film club was “at peak” without clarifying that it dipped before rising. More precise comparisons and coverage of the less-developed series would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the data. This makes the main message easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a shift to the rising activities. However, some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship clearly. “Following the similar downfall trend” is confusing because the film club’s slight decline does not match the sharper fall in amateur dramatics. The martial-arts point is repeated in the overview and final sentence without adding detail, while the body groups activities unevenly. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, stable/high series versus changing or rising series—and use references that make each trend’s subject explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of trend vocabulary, including “declined sharply,” “rose steadily,” “consistent increase,” and “fluctuation,” so the reader can understand the broad movements. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “reached at peak.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “was at peak” and “noticed a consistent increase” do not collocate naturally with the data, and “daramatically” is misspelled. “Several fluctuation” also has an incorrect form, and “high” is less precise than “peak” for a maximum. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling and word forms; this will make your descriptions more precise without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and longer structures, including a contrast clause in “the amateur dramatics rose steadily even though the film club fell slightly.” Most sentences communicate the intended trends, but some grammatical errors remain. In “the number participants,” the article “of” is missing; “reached at peak” has an incorrect preposition and article pattern; and “the martial arts had seen” uses an awkward tense for describing a chart period. The overview also has inconsistent capitalisation after “Overall,” and the final sentence repeats the same subject-verb pattern. Practise accurate noun phrases and verb forms, such as “the number of participants” and “participation reached a peak,” while varying sentence structures. These corrections would improve control and clarity.
