Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the five activities and give an overview that captures the film club’s consistently high participation and the decline in amateur dramatics. You also note table tennis’s rise and the low final figure for amateur dramatics. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: film club stayed around 60–66 participants, not “65%” throughout; table tennis rose to about 54, rather than 52; and musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, reaching about 18 by 2020 rather than 14. The claim that martial arts and musical performances both expanded gradually also overlooks martial arts’ fluctuations and near-stability. Select the main trends accurately and compare the start and end points more clearly to make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the data. This helps the reader identify the main topic and some key trends. However, progression within the detail paragraph is not always clear, and several links are awkward or incomplete, such as “followed by table tennis it the second highest activity although it started at lowest while had steady growth.” The final paragraph combines musical performances and amateur dramatics without a clear transition between them. Linking words such as “however” and “while” are attempted, but punctuation and placement sometimes make the relationships difficult to follow. Organise the details into clearer comparisons, and use shorter, complete sentences with accurate transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “categories,” “decline,” “steady growth,” and “fluctuated,” so the reader can understand the general subject and trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “highest performer activity,” “expansion,” and “remained at highest.” Repetition of “growth” also makes the description less precise, especially when discussing a decline. Spelling errors such as “activites,” “flim,” and “postion” are noticeable, and the use of percentages for participant counts is inappropriate. Use standard trend language such as “number of participants,” “rose to,” “fell to,” and “remained relatively stable,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “while,” and “after that.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. For example, “Their are five main categories included” has an incorrect verb form, while “Musical performances were started from the year 2005 and get a gradual growth” has problems with tense and sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and keep past-tense descriptions consistent throughout.
