Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all five activities and provide a clear overview: the film club remains the most popular, table tennis rises strongly, and amateur dramatics declines. Most reported figures and trends are close to the chart, including table tennis rising from about 16 to 53 and amateur dramatics falling from roughly 26 to 5. However, musical performances reach about 18 in 2020, not 28, and the film club ends near 66 rather than 68. The overview also says table tennis changes “suddenly,” although its strongest rise occurs later, especially from 2010 to 2020. To make the report more complete and precise, describe the key stages of that rise and the fluctuations in martial arts, rather than relying mainly on starting and ending values.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs covering the activities. This helps the reader follow the main comparisons, and the activities are generally grouped sensibly. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes awkward. For example, “by the time this value continued to increase” does not clearly connect the starting figure to the later trend, while “after some time” and “after some years” are vague links. Several sentences also combine multiple points without clear punctuation, particularly the final paragraph about film club and martial arts. Use clearer time markers such as “from 2010 onwards” and separate each activity’s trend into well-formed sentences. This would make the organisation more consistently easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “increased,” “decreased,” “slightly,” and “zig-zag fashion,” and the reader can generally identify the activities and their changes. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a data report: “less rated,” “favourable position,” “suffered very bad time,” and “competators” do not describe participation figures appropriately. “Flows upward” is also an awkward way to report a rise. Spelling errors such as “chamge” and “competators” further reduce precision. Aim for a smaller set of accurate chart-reporting expressions, such as “the number of participants,” “rose steadily,” “fell sharply,” and “fluctuated,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include “table tennis and amateur dramatics shows,” “Film club was remained,” and “the participants was 64.” The phrase “in 2000 the participants was 64 and at the and in 2020…” also needs clearer sentence boundaries and punctuation. Practise forming accurate comparisons with a consistent past tense: for example, “The film club had 64 participants in 2000 and rose slightly to 66 by 2020.” Shorter, controlled sentences will help you communicate the trends more clearly while you build confidence with complex structures.
