Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify all five activities and report several broad patterns, including the film club’s slight fall followed by a rise and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the most important comparisons, and some descriptions are inaccurate or too vague. Table tennis is described as “almost same as Amateur dramatics,” although it rises sharply to become the second-largest activity by 2020, while amateur dramatics falls to the lowest level. The musical performances trend is also only partly reported: it rises from zero to around 18, rather than merely exceeding 10. To strengthen the summary, state the main contrasts clearly and support them with key figures at the beginning and end of the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response follows a generally understandable sequence, moving through the activities one by one, and phrases such as “Firstly,” “Now,” and “Considering” signal transitions. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph, with no distinct overview to guide the reader. The repeated activity-by-activity openings make the progression feel mechanical, and the comparison between table tennis and amateur dramatics is confusing because their trends are very different. Some references, such as “From there,” require the reader to infer which year or point is meant. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and grouped details, and connect activities by meaningful similarities or contrasts rather than simply listing them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “decreases,” “upward,” “gradually decreases,” and “fluctuations,” so the main direction of change is often understandable. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing a line graph: “curved pattern,” “goes upward extensively,” and “table tennis graph” do not communicate the trends precisely. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “participents,” “gradully,” “fluctutions,” and “extensievly,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for standard collocations such as “fluctuated,” “rose sharply,” and “the number of participants,” and check spelling carefully. More precise terms would help distinguish the steep table-tennis increase from the gradual changes in other activities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences linked with “and,” “then,” and “because,” and the reader can usually understand the intended trends. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly with articles, sentence boundaries, and verb forms. For example, “at social centre” needs an article, and “the number decreases … and then start increasing” shifts incorrectly between verb forms. Several sentences run together without spaces after full stops, as in “2020.The” and “club.the,” making the writing harder to follow. There is also an incomplete construction in “Now Martial arts, the trend is in curved pattern.” Practise complete subject–verb sentences, consistent past-tense reporting, and accurate punctuation; these changes would make your descriptions clearer.
