Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important patterns, including film club remaining the largest activity, table tennis rising, and amateur dramatics declining. However, the report only partially covers the data and contains significant inaccuracies: film-club participation was not constant, but dipped before rising; musical performances began in 2000, not after a complete year, and increased from 2010; and table tennis did not reach second place after 2025, as the graph ends in 2020. The overview also says martial arts and amateur dramatics were “doing well,” although the latter fell sharply. To make the account more complete and reliable, give a clear overview of the main contrasting trends and check each comparison against the years shown.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs, and sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Lastly” help signal sections. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview repeats details later, and the body paragraphs move between activities and comparisons without a stable organising principle. Some links are difficult to follow, as in “On more interesting things it was equal with amateur dramatics in 2010 and in 2015 with martial arts,” where the reference of “it” is unclear. Grouping the activities by their trends—for example, rising, falling, and relatively stable—would create a clearer progression. Use linking phrases to show precise comparisons rather than relying mainly on basic sequencing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “downfall,” “gradually increasing,” and “boomed,” so the reader can identify the general trends you intend to describe. However, the range is limited and several choices are informal or imprecise for an academic report: “booms,” “doing well,” and “interesting” do not describe the data precisely. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “musicial,” “begining,” “becasue,” and “amateure,” which reduce clarity and control. Aim for accurate trend language and collocations, such as “rose sharply,” “declined steadily,” and “remained relatively stable.” Check spelling carefully, especially for repeated chart labels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make parts of the report difficult to interpret. For example, “the number participents are constant” has problems with the noun phrase and subject–verb agreement, while “it gradually inceasing from 2005” lacks a correctly formed verb. Several sentences are fragments or have unclear structure, including “On which the number of participants…” and “There other thing as well they are doing well…”. Tense and article use also need attention. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when describing the historical figures.
