Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main high and low activities and describe the strong rise in table tennis, so the response includes relevant features of the graph. However, coverage is incomplete: musical performances are not mentioned, and amateur dramatics is only referred to in the overview, despite its marked decline from about 26 to 6. Some figures and trends are also inaccurate. Film-club participation fell slightly to around 60 in 2010 before rising, rather than remaining unchanged until 2015; table tennis reached about 36 in 2015, not 38; and martial arts fluctuated around the mid-30s rather than remaining at approximately 38 throughout. The overview also incorrectly suggests table tennis ranked second across the whole period. Select the key trends more accurately and cover all five activities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Afterwards” help signal relationships. However, the progression is uneven because amateur dramatics is named in the overview but not developed, while musical performances are omitted entirely. Some linking is awkward or repetitive, including “Although” at the start of a sentence where no contrast follows and the repeated explanation that table tennis became the second most popular activity. Grouping the rising, falling, and relatively stable series into clearer comparisons would make the organisation more purposeful and the connections between details easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of graph-related vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “hovered,” “surged,” and “rose sharply,” which helps describe changes rather than simply list figures. Some choices are imprecise or do not collocate naturally: “participants of film club” and “participants of martial arts” would be clearer as “participants in the film club” and “participants in martial arts.” “Remained same” is also incomplete, and “conclusively” does not express the intended idea of an overall trend. Spelling slips such as “particpants,” “tabble,” and “futhermore” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural phrases for describing participation and change, and proofread spelling so these errors do not distract from the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a comparison introduced by “Although” and a sentence describing what happened “Afterwards.” The main trends are generally understandable, but errors in agreement, tense, and sentence construction recur. For example, “the number … were” should use a singular verb, while “they remained same” needs an article and a clearer subject. The sentence beginning “Although, film club…” is not a complete, correctly connected contrast, and “these participants increased” incorrectly makes the participants themselves the thing that rose. Use the number of participants as the subject, maintain consistent past-tense reporting, and check articles and singular/plural agreement. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer.
