Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall movements: table tennis rises substantially, amateur dramatics declines, and musical performances grow from zero. You also include several relevant figures, such as film club at about 64 and table tennis at roughly 18 in 2000. However, some comparisons are inaccurate: martial arts began at about 36, not 27, and amateur dramatics was around 26, so describing martial arts as the second-highest activity is not supported. The overview also says film club “remained constant,” although it dipped slightly before ending higher. To strengthen the report, compare the series more precisely and include the notable final ranking, with table tennis becoming the second-largest activity by 2020.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear four-part structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. The reader can follow the broad movement from the starting point to the end of the period, and phrases such as “Between 2005 and 2020” help signal a change in focus. However, the progression within the first detail paragraph is less clear because the figures are presented in an inconsistent order, and “While” begins a fragment rather than linking a complete sentence. Repeated transitions such as “On the other hand” do not always express a genuine contrast. Grouping the activities by trend and using clearer comparisons would make the organisation more cohesive and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “sharply increased,” “decreased dramatically,” “fluctuated,” and “absent,” which helps describe changes in the graph. Some choices, however, are imprecise or unnatural: “the information of number of participants,” “the individual of Melbourne,” and “reached very low position” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. “Proportion” is also unsuitable when describing participant counts, and “remained constant” overstates the film club trend. Aim for precise terms such as “number,” “participants,” and “fell to a low of,” while varying repeated references to increases and decreases. These improvements would make the report clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the overview clause “it can be clearly seen that…” and a time clause beginning “Between 2005 and 2020.” However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “table tennis had experienced” uses an unnecessary past perfect, while “the numbers of martial arts and Film club fluctuated and remains constant” has inconsistent tense and agreement. “While the film club remained constant in the given period” is a fragment, and “18 number of participants participate” has faulty noun and verb construction. Use past simple consistently for the historical data and check that each sentence has a complete main clause. More accurate control of these patterns would improve readability.
