Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main patterns: film club remains the most popular activity, table tennis rises markedly, amateur dramatics declines, and musical performances grow from zero. These are relevant features and give the response a clear overview. Several figures, however, are inaccurate: film club is about 60–66, rather than 60–63; amateur dramatics starts at about 26, not 18, and ends near 6, not 8; table tennis begins at about 16, not 18. The final sentence about musical performances is unfinished, so this trend is not fully reported, and the overview’s claim that martial arts remained constant could be more precise about its fluctuations. More accurate figures and a complete account of all series would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph describing several activities. This helps the reader follow the broad comparisons. However, progression is weakened by repetitive linking and unclear connections: “Consequently” is used to introduce musical performances even though no cause-and-effect relationship is shown, and it appears again at the start of the unfinished final sentence. The long third paragraph combines several series and comparisons, making the information harder to track. The final sentence also stops before completing its point. Use clearer grouping, such as describing the stable activities together and then the contrasting trends, and use linking words only when their relationship is accurate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “minor fluctuations,” “declined,” “remained constant” and “skyrocketed,” which helps communicate changes. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “highest number of involvement,” “largest proportion of declination” and “base year.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “sugre,” “noticebale” and “dramtically.” These do not prevent the general meaning from being understood, but they reduce precision and fluency. Prefer standard chart language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe participant numbers as rising or falling rather than referring to a “proportion” when the graph gives numbers.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, as in “while amateur dramatics…” and “Whereas, people participating in table tennis…”. Some sentence structures communicate the comparisons successfully, but errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “Both film club and martial arts segment seems” should use a plural verb and clearer noun phrases, while “the highest number of involvement of people is on film club” has an awkward grammatical structure. The final sentence, “Consequently, Musical performances seems to attract the individuals from year 2005 the,” is incomplete and contains subject–verb disagreement. Aim for complete sentences, consistent past-tense reporting and careful agreement between subjects and verbs.
