Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main categories and include several relevant figures, such as film club at 64 participants initially and table tennis rising from about 17 to 50. However, the overview contains a major contradiction: it says martial arts and amateur dramatics increased overall, although both finish at or below their starting levels. Film club also did not remain stable throughout; it dipped slightly before rising. The account of amateur dramatics gives no final figure, and musical performances are described only vaguely as increasing rapidly. To make the report more complete and accurate, state the contrasting overall trends clearly and support them with key start and end values, especially for the declining and newly emerging activities.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. Grouping film club and table tennis before discussing the other activities gives the reader a basic route through the data. However, progression is weakened by the inaccurate overview and by some abrupt or mechanically linked sentences, including repeated use of “and then” in the detail paragraphs. “On the other hand” does not clearly signal a contrast between all the activities that follow, and the final sentence adds musical performances without a clear comparison. Use clearer grouping based on trends—such as rising, falling and relatively stable figures—and connect each detail paragraph directly to the overview.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “remained stable,” “increased rapidly” and “declined dramatically.” These choices make the general subject and several trends understandable. However, some wording is imprecise or repetitive: “showed” and “reach” recur, while “remained stable throughout” does not accurately describe the film-club figures. There are also spelling and word-form slips, such as “cetre” and “throughtout,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise trend language and vary reporting verbs—for example, distinguish a slight fluctuation from a sharp rise or steady decline. Check spelling carefully, and use natural collocations such as “the number of participants in the film club.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms and sentence boundaries. Examples include “the martial arts and amateur dramatics shows,” where the plural subject requires a plural verb, and “then reach to 20,” where the past-tense form and construction are faulty. “While Table tennis showed…” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, and “remained almost stable throughout the period. Moreover” needs clearer punctuation. Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons and joining clauses with appropriate punctuation or conjunctions. More reliable control of these basic patterns would make the report easier to follow.
