Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report figures for all five activities across the full period, and most values and movements are close to the chart. For example, you correctly show amateur dramatics declining to 6 and table tennis rising sharply to about 53. However, the response mainly lists each year’s figures rather than selecting and highlighting the main features. It also lacks a clear overview comparing the series: film club remained the most popular, while table tennis experienced the strongest growth and amateur dramatics fell to the lowest level. Some figures are slightly high or low, such as film club at 2020 and martial arts at several points, though the overall trends are generally accurate. Add a concise overview and prioritise the most significant comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The activities are presented in a consistent order, and the repeated time sequence makes the information possible to follow. However, the response is organised as five separate lists of yearly values, with little progression from an overview to the most important details. Repeated use of “In 2010,” “In 2015,” and “In 2020” makes the linking mechanical, while the lack of paragraphing or grouping means related trends are not compared. For example, the sharp rise in table tennis could be contrasted directly with the decline in amateur dramatics. Begin with an overview paragraph, then group the key trends into one or two detail paragraphs and use comparison phrases to connect them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the activities and describe basic changes, using terms such as “reduced,” “raised,” “increased,” and “remained same.” The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is limited and several choices are repetitive or unnatural for describing a graph. “Raised” is repeatedly used where “rose” or “increased” would be more idiomatic, and “The Musical performers” does not accurately name the activity, which is “musical performances.” “Number of participant” also has an incorrect form. Use a wider set of precise trend expressions, such as “fluctuated,” “climbed sharply,” and “declined steadily,” while keeping the chart’s category labels exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use a simple past-tense pattern, and the sequence of changes is usually understandable. However, the grammatical range is narrow, with little sentence variety or comparison between activities. There are recurring errors in articles, number agreement, and sentence boundaries: “Number of participant of film club” needs a plural noun and a more complete noun phrase, while “In 2010.In 2015” has missing spacing and punctuation. “It remained same as 2005” also needs an article (“the same”). Practise combining related information with accurate clauses, for example, “While film-club attendance dipped slightly, table-tennis participation rose substantially.” Check articles, plurals, and punctuation when editing.
