Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall patterns: film club remains the largest activity, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis and musical performances rise. You also include relevant figures for several series. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: amateur dramatics was about 26 in 2000, not just under 20, and it fell to around 20 in 2010 rather than around 10. Martial arts began at about 36, not 26. Musical performances started at zero in 2000, not 2005. The overview is useful, but the account of the key comparisons is uneven, and the film-club description could note its slight dip followed by recovery. More precise reporting of the starting points and changes would make the summary more complete and reliable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a brief overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. This makes the main trends easy to locate, and linking expressions such as “However” and “Subsequently” help show contrast and sequence. The organisation is generally coherent, but the final paragraph groups musical performances and table tennis without a clear transition between the two series, while the preceding paragraph covers three other activities. Some connections between figures are also difficult to follow because several details are compressed into long sentences. Use a more consistent grouping—such as describing the stable or declining lines together, then the rising lines—and make each sentence’s subject explicit to improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “declined,” “maintained,” and “rose,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more precise descriptions such as “commenced” and “reached a peak.” However, some choices are inaccurate or awkward: “participants who performed different activities” suggests performance rather than participation, and “went at 55” is not a natural way to describe a figure. “Leading category” is understandable but less precise than “most popular activity” or “highest figure.” There is also a spelling error in “dramarics.” Aim for natural collocations and accurate activity names, and vary the verbs used to describe increases and stability.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. Some sentences are controlled, such as “The figure for film club started just over 60 and fluctuated between 60 and 70 throughout the period.” However, errors in verb forms and sentence construction remain: “it increase slightly” should be “it increased slightly,” and “The number … was just under 20 in 2000, it increase…” joins two clauses incorrectly. In “maintained stable,” the adjective needs a grammatical link, as in “remained stable.” There are also missing or awkward prepositions in phrases such as “fluctuated between” (with extra spacing) and “dropped at around of 10.” Check tense consistency, clause boundaries, and verb patterns when editing.
