Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall pattern that the film club remained the most popular activity and that amateur dramatics fell to the lowest level by 2020. You also report the strong rise in table tennis and the start of musical performances at zero, so the response is relevant and includes several key features. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: film-club participation did not simply remain stable after 2010, as it rose from about 60 to 66; table tennis began rising before 2010 and reached about 54; and musical performances increased steadily rather than fluctuating. Martial arts, which stayed broadly stable around the mid-30s, is not described. A more precise overview and clearer comparisons would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs grouped around trends. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Moreover” help signal the stages of the summary. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are awkward or unclear. For example, the table-tennis sentence moves from its 2000 figure to 2010 and then 2020 without clearly explaining the rise from 2005 onward. “On the contrast” also introduces the musical-performance trend, but the comparison with amateur dramatics is not fully developed. Grouping the stable series together and the contrasting rising and falling series together, with clearer time-based sequencing, would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “declined,” “membership,” and “participants,” and the reader can generally identify the activities and trends being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the description harder to follow. “Candidates” and “competitors” are not suitable for people attending social-centre activities; “participants” or “members” would be more precise. Phrases such as “the graph of the table tannis considerably increased” and “another interesting information” are also unnatural. Spelling errors in activity names, including “armteur” and “tannis,” further reduce accuracy. Aim for precise trend language and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and articles. For example, “The graph illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, while “had start very well” and “it began rose” use incorrect verb forms. The sentence beginning “Film club had the highest membership that was in between…” is difficult to control and would be clearer as two shorter sentences. There are also problems with articles and prepositions, as in “reached at about 5 participants.” These recurring errors sometimes make relationships between figures and trends unclear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build longer sentences around one clear comparison at a time.
