Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant overall patterns: table tennis rises, amateur dramatics declines, musical performances begin later, and film club remains the largest activity. However, the report is incomplete and contains too little supporting detail to summarise the graph adequately. For example, you mention film club’s fall and recovery but do not clearly give the 2010 and 2020 figures, and the final sentence stops at “martial arts and amateur,” leaving the comparison unfinished. The response is also 94 words, below the required 150, which limits coverage of the main features. To improve, complete the report and include selected comparisons across the five activities, especially table tennis’s sharp rise and the contrasting trends in the other series.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and the start of a detail paragraph. The overview uses “Overall” and “Additionally” to signal the main points, so the reader can identify the intended organisation. However, progression is not sustained because the response ends abruptly with “marital arts and amateur,” and there is no developed sequence of comparisons or concluding detail. Some linking is also awkward: “despite a temporary decline with 4 participants after 10 years” makes the relationship between the fall and recovery difficult to follow. Organise the body into complete paragraphs, grouping activities with contrasting trends, and use clear references such as “this figure” only when the referent is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “decline,” “increased,” and “fluctuated,” which helps communicate the broad trends. The range is nevertheless limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “substainally,” “ameteur,” “muscial performace,” and “poistion.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “reached at top” and “participants of film club.” Use accurate activity names and collocations, for example “the number of people attending the film club” and “rose to a peak.” A wider set of precise trend verbs and comparison phrases would help you describe changes without repeating basic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes both simple statements and a more complex sentence beginning “while,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. In “the participants of film club was remained highest poistion,” the verb construction and sentence pattern are faulty; a clearer form is “the film club had the highest number of participants.” The phrase “it reached at top” also has an incorrect preposition and verb pattern, while “despite a temporary decline with 4 participants” does not express the change accurately. The final fragment is incomplete. Practise complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and past-tense trend descriptions, then check that each sentence has a clear main clause.
